Luster LUC Series

Ceramvetro lusters cover all the range of traditional colors and some innovative too; all lusters have been conceived and realized all in our internal lab, with the finest equipment and hight tech devices.

Some of them contain precious metal.

Main Charateristics

  • High stability

  • Intense colors

  • Long durability

Application

Lusters are applied by brushing or spraying. In both cases these lusters must be diluted with our Ceramvetro thinner BD61.

For brushing add about 25% of thinner; for spraying add from 90% to 300% of thinner. The proper pressure for spraying is 0,7 to 1,1 kg/cmq. The object to be decorated should be held at a distance from 15cm to 50cm, depending on the size. The compressed air should be dried to prevent water from entering the luster, which could cause white spots to appear after firing.

Deflocculant

Deflocculant is an additive used for slip casting (mass production of pottery and porcelain).

Main Charateristics

  • Reduce the need of water in the slip

  • Faster casting process

  • Increase of factory production up to 40%

Application

A slip made of a mixture of water, clay and Deflocculant is poured into a plaster mould.

The plaster begins to absorb the water and therefore solidify the liquid clay mixture in the mould, allowing the correct thickness of the finished object.

Now the object (called greenware) can be removed from the mould and finished. The extra edges can be trimmed off, and a damp sponge can be used to smooth the surface. The object is then left to dry completely. At this point the object can be fired in the kiln.
